If you missed our heads up in May, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration have raised their fines, as promised. Because this is the first time since 1990 that fines have increased, the increase is huge. In some cases, fines have nearly doubled. The changes took effect August 2, 2016.
What does this mean for American EHS professionals? It's a great time to:
- Update your safety equipment
- Improve your workplace safety training
- Ensure your staff has personal strategies for safety at work
- Review your workplace safety checklists
Here's more information from OSHA about how the new fines will affect smaller businesses and where to get help understanding them.
